The South-West Londoners have made 13 new additions in total, with some of the most important of them being former Trailfinders. The first choice halfback combination were both playing at Trailfinders Sports Club last season, as Stephen Kerins and Bill Johnston both now apply their trade at the Athletic Ground.
Despite this disappointment, now the Mond have got their first win on the board, they will be looking to kick on and progress up the table. MATCH OFFICIALSReferee: Craig Maxwell-KeysAssistant Referee 1: Simon AdamsAssistant Referee 2: James CornellLAST TIME WE METOur most recent meeting with Richmond came just over a month ago, as we travelled to the RAG for our penultimate preseason encounter. It was a relatively fresh side with several new combinations that started against the Mond and they came out of the blocks firing with easy scores from Angus Kernohan and Ollie Fox.
Richmond however grew back into the game, with some rolling maul tries that sandwiched a score from Carlo Tizzano, making the score read at the break Richmond 12-21 Ealing Trailfinders. As the second 40 went on, ill-discipline slowly creeped into the game, allowing the hosts field position and ultimately two more maul scores. Although having fallen behind, your Trailfinders remained composed and were able to claim two late scores from Tizzano and Luke Daniels to see out the victory. The other key recruits have come from the West, with prop Conor Maguire joining from Hartpury and winger Alex O’Meara coming from Cornish Pirates. WHAT TO EXPECTRichmond finally got their season up and running as they defeated Hartpury University 19-15 at the RAG last weekend to get their first win of the season. The fixture list was not particularly kind to the Londoners, as they had trips to Cornwall and Doncaster all within the first two weeks. On the opening night they grabbed a well deserved losing bonus point in a 21-14 loss to the Pirates and a try bonus point at the Knights in week three. In their week two match they came up against a spirited and powerful Caldy side who were able to leave the RAG with a narrow 34-32 victory.
